The Region promotes and participates actively since 1994, as a leader or as a operating partner, to initiatives and projects of the European Territorial Cooperation (ETC) designed to develop partnerships on a over national scale in diversified sectors and to share good practices to be inserted in processes of Policies and Development Plans for the local and regional area.
Through the Cooperation and Internationalization Sector, the Region follows EU Programmes, Euro - Mediterranean Policies, Internationalization, cooperation among peoples and political peace. Moreover, it contributes to the achievement of the European territorial cooperation, also through the direct management of funds from EU programs.
CTS is a national non-profit organization founded in 1974 and recognized by the Ministry of Environment as Environmental Protection Agency since 1992. CTS is also recognized as a national organization with charitable purposes by the Home Office and is registered in the “Anagrafe Regionale delle Ricerche” and to the National Register of Associations of social promotion. In the environmental field, CTS works in three areas: nature conservation, sustainable tourism and environmental education and information. Partner of prestigious organizations such as the Ministries of Environment, Education, Social Solidarity, of Agriculture, of Heritage and Culture, and also of CNR, ENEA, ISPRA and other public and private institutions, CTS has participated in many LIFE projects.
CHLORA Ltd offers services in the field of Natural Sciences and Applied Ecology since 2008. The main activities involve studies on flora, vegetation and habitat; research and experimental development in the field of Environmental Science, design and planning, environmental education and training as well as eco-sustainability. The Chlora staff has collaborated since 2004 to the development of management plans for most of the Natura 2000 sites of Calabria (for the GIS, flora, vegetation and habitat).
The staff of the Comunità Ambiente includes naturalists, biologists, architects and journalists with an experience in the field of Nature Conservation at a Community level, with Particular Reference to the process of creation of the Natura 2000 network, the management of environmental projects, evaluation of scientific and administrative reports and documents, including the University Management Plans Sites Natura 2000. Among its main customers, we can find some public authorities, like the European Commission, the Ministry of Environment, the Province of Rome and Terni, the Municipality of Florence. The deployment of studies on species and ecosystems and projects for the identification of Natura 2000 sites, allows Comunità Ambiente to have an update knowledge on the issues of planning the Conservation of Nature.

The Political Department of the Environment of Regione Calabria, guarantees and promotes a coordinated and unified manner with Italy and local authorities for the preservation and enhancement of its natural heritage of biological, geological and geomorphological formations, which, together with the anthropic elements connected to them, make up a primary constitutionally guaranteed element, responding to the national challenge 2011-2020 for biodiversity strategy. In particular, the sector has management functions for the protection of natural areas and the enhancement of biodiversity (Natura 2000 network of sites in the Community directives 79/409/EEC and 92/43/EEC).
Green Factor is a limited company working in the environmental field dealing with communication, euro projects, studies and research in the sector of the green economy as well as training and professional orientation. Belong to the staff, a team of professionals with great experience in environmental communication , in research, in education and in the creation, management and reporting of complex projects. Together with experts having played the role of project managers and researchers within some life projects , FP7, Enpi Med. Green Factor oversaw the drafting of projects recently approved aiming at the Management and Enhancement of Areas Natura 2000 and the conservation of habitats and species Habitat and Birds Directive.
The University of Calabria is one of the most dynamic and important academic institutions of the country. Today it has 14 departments, 15 of which are technical-scientific, and about 35,000 students. The Department of Biology, Ecology and Earth Sciences - BEST through a multidisciplinary approach, develops the most advanced technologies in the field of biology and study the sustainability of land management, natural resources, biodiversity and the historical and artistic heritage and landscap . The DiBEST boasts excellent researchers, some of whom are very young, competitive at the international level.
The Department of Agriculture, established in 2012, aims to the development of the goals, competencies and scientific-disciplinary lines of activities within the Faculty of Agriculture, Department of Biotechnology to monitor agro-food and environmental management of agricultural systems and forestry, agro-forestry and environmental sciences and technologies.
Teachers of the Department have worked together to establish the Plan of the National Park of Aspromonte and Sila, management plans of SIC and ZPS falling in the Sila National Park and the Forest Plan of Regione Calabria-2013.
